Connecting Google Workspace is a one-time setup that takes about 10 minutes. Before you begin, make sure you have:
- A Google Workspace super admin account — you'll authorize access in the Google Admin console, which only a super admin can do.
- Access to Google Cloud Console (
console.cloud.google.com) to create a service account. - About 10 minutes, plus a short wait (2–5 minutes) for Google to apply the change.
How the connection works
Workspace Sync uses a service account with domain-wide delegation and a single read-only scope (admin.directory.user.readonly). That means:
- Workspace Sync can read your directory (names, emails, phones, titles, departments, photos).
- It cannot change anything in your Google Workspace.
You'll create the service account in Google, authorize its read-only scope, and paste its key into Workspace Sync. The next articles walk through each step.
